Hello, my name is Callie and I love Jesus. I also love kids, peanut butter, fashion, Uganda, diet coke, dancing, Texas, friends and family. (Not in that order.) In 2011 I heard a very clear call from the Lord to move to Uganda to be a missionary serving Him. In 2013 I moved! I first started working with a wonderful organization called IChooseYou. The couple of years I spent with IChooseYou were incredible and I learned so much about loving and serving people well. In February of 2014 God began to place a new dream in my Heart for the area that I was working in. As He usually does when He gives us new dreams, God opened a door for me to begin working in those dreams with another amazing organization called JENGA. Every day is an adventure in Africa! I am learning to rely solely on Jesus for every desire of my heart and every need of my flesh. I strive to become more and more like Him every day. I never imagined that I would be in my 20's, single, living in Africa, working as a missionary with a thriving Christian nonprofit. I had a much different idea of what my life would look like at this point. I am so thankful for this journey and no matter where He leads me, I will go!

What does Mzungu Mama mean? I’m so glad you asked! Mzungu is a term used in Uganda to refer to English speaking people, generally of European descent. While I am not yet a mother, I have a heart that mothers. I can’t help it. This is how God made me. So I’m a Mzungu Mama. Currently my children are the 4 precious children that God has placed in my life for now and all of the other children in the slum of Namatala. I am one very happy Mzungu Mama!
